Benjamin Sachs, MB, BS, DPH, FACOG Dr. Sachs is Senior Vice President and Dean at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he also holds the James R. Doty Distinguished Professor and Chair. Before joining Tulane University, Dr. Sachs held several senior administrative positions at Harvard Medical School and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, including Chief, Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Harold H. Rosenfield Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, and Chair of the Executive Committee of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (HMS). Born in London, Dr. Sachs graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School, now the world-renowned Imperial College. He received a degree in public health from the University of Toronto and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. |

Susan Mann, MD Dr. Mann is the director of team training and simulation in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and is an assistant professor in Obstetrics, and Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. She was a lead physician in the randomized trial of military and civilian hospitals that led to the development of the Team Performance Plus methodology. Dr. Mann also serves on the Executive Committee Massachusetts section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. |

Stephen Pratt, MD Dr. Pratt is the Director of Quality Improvement for the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care, and Clinical Director of Obstetric Anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is one of the authors of the curricula for teaching team training on Labor and Delivery, and the first author of the article that publicized the team training initiative at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, for which the team was honored with the Eisenberg Award in Patient Safety. He was also instrumental in developing clinically relevant outcomes for assessing the quality of obstetric care. Dr. Pratt is an Assistant Professor with Harvard Medical School and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on the topics of patient safety and team training in obstetrics. |

Mary L. Salisbury, RN, MSN Ms. Salisbury celebrates 40 years of continuous healthcare and patient safety research and service. Her clinical areas of expertise are operating room, critical care, and emergency medicine. An early researcher to study the impact of teams on outcomes, Ms Salisbury continues to actively investigate and apply improved methodologies to site readiness and training, implementation, evaluating and sustaining behaviors over time. Ms. Salisbury has authored numerous papers and presentations on team-driven safety. |

Penny Greenberg, RN, BSN Ms. Greenberg is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Beth Israel Deaconess–Needham. Prior to that, she was the director of Health Care Quality and Patient Safety at Beth Israel Deaconess-Needham and OB/GYN Quality Improvement Specialist at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She also served as project manager and a master trainer for the study that led to the development of the Team Performance Plus methodology. Ms. Greenberg is also a reviewer for the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Voluntary Review of Quality of Care; in this role, she performs onsite evaluations of OB/GYN departments across the country. |

Ronald Marcus, MD Dr. Marcus is the director of Outpatient Services at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also serves as assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. He is an elected Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has 27 years experience as a practicing obstetrician, was named a Boston Magazine “Best of Boston” physician in 1992 and 2006, and is a two-time winner of the Harvard Medical School Resident Teaching Award (1997 and 2002). |
